Just when I started to interest in ridgebacks, I understood that these dogs are exclusive and they are different from all other breeds. In literature often is written that ridgebacks are natural breed, as they are similar to its ancestors with theirs bad lineaments. But this not mean that Rhodesian Ridgebacks are uncontrolled. I can tell that ridgeback is at the center of German shepherd, who is attached to his owner and the chow-chow, who is demanding independence. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are proud-hearted, not conflicting, neutral to the unknown people and quiet. Ridgebacks bark rarely and only then if it is necessary. Rhodesian Ridgebacks naturally are watchdogs, and they demands special preparation and training. Another plus of these dogs - in the house they are not officious. Ridgebacks will not jump on the guests. Ridgeback never provokes conflict by himself, but if another dog trespass the limit then they bravely gives response. Another purpose of these dogs is hunting. They are not aggressive and especially they are not cowards. Ridgebacks are able to scare hunted animal, but they avoid direct contact with him. Ridgebacks main features - courage, carefulness and especially intelligence and greediness. Big hunting experience can tell us that female Ridgebacks are better hunters. Male Ridgebacks are superb bodyguards, and they are good hunters.
